What is World No Tobacco Day & the theme of 2020 [31 may]

What is World No Tobacco Day 2020

"Smoking is Injurious to Health"
"Do not Chew Tobacco, It causes cancer"

What is World No Tobacco Day 2020

World No Tobacco Day  is the day observed by World Health Organization every year on 31 May to stop the use of Tobacco in every form.

Hi friends, I will share in this article about World No Tobacco Day. All the questions will be answered about this topic. I am writing this article to make you aware so that after reading the article your all the queries given below, will be answered.

  1. When World No Tobacco Day was started?
  2. How to observe world No Tobacco Day?
  3. What is no tobacco day?
  4. Why is 'world No Tobacco Day' important?
  5. What is the theme of 2020 of World No Tobacco Day?

When I see the tobacco is being consumed from top to bottom. The consumers of tobacco products either Cigarette, Bidi, or Gutkha,Pan-masala are global. The irony is that the consumption is increasing even after so many campaign, warnings before movies, documentaries are being shown to the people to spread the awareness.

I heard a story of a drunkard that the demonstrator was showing the effect of alcohol to the  people by putting the insects in a bowl containing alcohol. As soon as he put it down in the bowl, the insect died.

Then he asked the people, " What do you understand after seeing this?"

One drunkard stood up and said, "The alcohol kills all the germs of the body"

The demonstrator fainted.....

A few weeks ago I saw a video of a street boy of around 14 years, the video maker was interviewing him. The boy told that he has taken all types of substances including, solution, tobacco etc. I got bewildered as he told that if he doesn't consume his nose is bleeding, his hands are shivering.

According to the data available on the net around 8 million people die every year worldwide due to tobacco use. Unfortunately, 1.2 million non-smoking people among them are included in this data. It means that it effects the people who are not smoker or not consuming tobacco are also dying and prone to ill-health.

World No Tobacco Day 2020 by WHO

Therefore, to bring it into everyone's attention ,World Health Organization created World No Tobacco Day on 31st May 1987. Since it was started it has been celebrated with enthusiasm and zeal but it has been resisted by the groups who are tobacco companies, smokers, addicts.

But after the program and awareness many people have quit the smoking, tobacco and other addictions. This was really a good initiative and campaign created by WHO. Despite of  many protests and resistance from Industries, consumers, growers this campaign has been celebrated unceasingly.

It is the one among the many  global public health campaigns like World blood Donor Day, World Hepatitis Day, World Malaria Day ,World AIDS Day etc. This campaign was started as many people are dying due to this deathly products.

Theme of the current year is Protecting youth from industry manipulation and preventing them from tobacco and nicotine use.

Youth is the strength of any country and nowadays we see many young lads, adolescents are coming in to grip of the tobacco products and other substances like drugs, cocaine etc. Thus, It has become very crucial that we save the youth from these bad habits which may cause ill-health even death. To save a country it is indispensable to save the youth.

Conlusion

Conclusively I would like to say that even if it is very hard but we should save our friends, colleagues, relatives, family members from the smoking, chewing tobacco, chewing Pan-masala etc. They should be abstained from this poison. Because we have to take steps to support the World No Tobacco Day which is marked by WHO. It is celebrated on 31 May every year to make the world tobacco free.

I would like to mention my data sources, I have taken the data from Wikipedia, WHO official website. I would like to get your comment and feedback for this article. If you have any query or suggestion then please make me aware through your comments.
